In an interview yesterday with ESPN’s “Highly Questionable,” STL rap star Nelly discussed the feud that’s been brewing between himself and Floyd Mayweather.
“I don’t have a beef with Floyd Mayweather,” Nelly said. “I think the whole thing is misunderstood. I try to understand where he’s coming from, which is a little hard to do.
But it’s just one of those things. He is who he is. He’s one of those people that I don’t think likes the word no said to him. I think if anybody does that, that’s what gets underneath his skin a little bit. But I don’t know. It’s kind of hard talking to a guy who hasn’t graduated from high school.”
According to TMZ, The tension reportedly kicked off because of Nelly’s “friendship” with Mayweather’s ex Chantel Jackson. Mayweather was said to be betrayed because he assumed he and Nelly were friends and took shots at the rapper and Jackson on social media.
Nelly responded to the claims on Instagram earlier this year.
Me and Floyd being such good friends is a total shock to me considering we have never exchanged numbers, never been invited to a fight, never been to his house, never ate lunch, we never have hung out anywhere other than seeing each other in a club! Floyd could be confusing his relationship with me with his relationship with my ex for whom he has exchanged numbers and has flown personally to attend His weekend in Michigan which I wasn’t invited (guess I wasn’t in the circle of friends then) lol.
circle of friends then) lol.
I have great respect for him as far as him being a true champion in his sport but homies ..?? Circle of friends ..? Nahh … Good luck to him tho keep making history champ.”
