Like most of the folks in the building, I made my way to the Liquid Assets/LooseCannon Holiday Appreciation Party mostly to see Jadakiss rip the stage. We left with a bite-sized sample of what could’ve been.
I was happy to see so many of my folks – starting with Yung Ro and his “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” hair game. I also ran into Big Tah, Tara from Tasty Treats, Lisa West, Mo Spoon, Gabby Davis … essentially everybody but Jadakiss. I must say that Sir Thurl and A Plus had some magical stall action to keep me perched until Monday came creeping in.
The bad news is Jadakiss didn’t take the stage until 1 a.m. The good news is I was able to get a nice chunk of Partyline written while I waited.
A few people booed. Who waits till 1:14 a.m. on a Sunday just to boo somebody? Kiss felt the disdain, so he shouted, “Let’s go till they put us out!” The good news is that he kept his promise. The bitterly ironic news was that exactly seven minutes after his proclamation they did exactly that.
That might go down as the shortest concert of the last 40 years … at least.
