If I had known that I would be posted up in the Ambassador all weekend like I was I would have begged Simply Royale beauty salon’s childcare for a toddler bed station in-kind donation!  Friday night, was a sight to behold as the soulfuls jam packed into the spot to get a sip of good ‘ol ratchet southern rap by way of Yo Gotti. I know he’s on the city’s list of personal favorites, but I did NOT know y’all would go hard for him like that – especially since I can’t really name a handful of his hits. But y’all were in the building almost as tough as when T.I. and Jeezy came to town. Which brings me to the downside of my weekend at the Ambassador that still has me scratching my head. Can somebody please riddle me HOW GOTTI CAN PULL A BIGGER CROWD THAN 8BALL & MJG? Real talk, it was 12 folks away from being empty boots up in there and I will never in life understand that! I will travel to the ends of the earth – and by ends of the earth, I meanEast St. Louis – to see them, so I was appalled that y’all didn’t come over to NoCo to see them put it down. And –as usual – put it down they did! I can’t say that I’m feeling 8Ball’s new hair game. I know that plaits are late, but I almost prefer them to him on stage lookin’ like a plus-sized Sidney Poitier with the “Heat of the Night” swag of that teeny weeny afro. I got over it quickly though as they served to all 76 of us like it was a sold-out show at the Chaifetz!
