Another reader wants to know: “Why were the ministers (Holy Pimps) protesting Nelly? For the same reasons Spellman College protested? All of these influental Nelly naysayers should focus on solving the root of the problems rather than attacking a young black businessman who gives back to the community. I don’t recall any of the dancers (vide-ho-fessionals) in “Tip Drill” looking unhappy or afraid for their safety. They seem to be having quite a blast, and I’m sure they were paid accordingly. If the women felt they were being degraded, they wouldn’t have performed for the cameras. If the extreme moralists believe hip-hop is so violent and disrespectful of women, maybe their focus should be on teaching young women better personal values. Educated women aren’t normally the ones working “poles,” but then again the dancers may very well be doing what they enjoy – pimping men. And what’s wrong with a little ADULT programming during ADULT hours?”
