The All Stars’ studio was the place for a hip-hop head to be Tuesday night. Chingy was in the house to burn a few bars on “Do Whatcha Do,” the Stars’ club hit off All City, which is burning up sales and fixing to make us all proud. Chingy’s verse will hit on a remix of the single that’s sure to come pounding at you out of a deejays’ rig right quick.

Chingy rolled into the studio, in beige sweats and a bandanna, surrounded by his Get It Boyz, serious Walnut Park street cats, who mingled okay with Guccio and Just Black and the rest of the Black on Black/Quit Playing organization. No beef, no fuss, just work on a track and brothers helping each other get n and stay n on.

Rap sessions run late, and I had to get some beauty sleep, so I never heard Chingy’s bars, but I did get a good look at him working on his verse. Mix master Adam Long put the track on an endless loop, and Chingy sat in the studio engineer’s chair next to Trust. Chingy kept his head down in deep thought and didn’t pay any attention to anything happening around him as he let the rhythm of the track sink into his soul.

Guess how Chingy writes? He keyed his verse into a Palm Pilot-type gizmo using both his thumbs. Looked like he was playing a video game!
