Speaking of hot Adam mixes and the local thing, the release date for the Allstars’ All City keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping, into the future. The street date now is March 22. I’ve heard the master, though, and it’s a monster.
I can’t predict the industry, and a radio hit is more likely to be bought than broken, if you know what I mean, but y’all got some ear candy to look forward to, whether or not the PDs at hip-hop stations and the rest of the world get hip to it. In the meantime, lots of other stuff keeps dropping out of that camp, more Bishop mix tapes than I can keep track of (and my boy owes me the last few), plus Just Black threw down a real novelty, a mix tape with a mix DVD. Bleezy is a sharp axe; trust him to cut his own path. I just can’t say too much about his joint in a family newspaper like the American. It’s thugged out for real. Some of Black’s stuff is what makes folks thump Bibles at the music. Let’s see if somebody’s not waving it in the air tonight at the Hip-Hop Town Hall Meeting down at Cardinal Ritter Prep. Gonna be quite a few heads, some of them not even old, sitting up there talking about hip-hop and what it’s doing to kids today. I say go, kids, have your say!
