“font-family: Arial;” lang=”EN-US” xml:lang=”EN-US”>I have my

iPhone and portable DVD player all charged up, my overnight bag

packed with magazines, pajamas and low-calorie snacks to keep me

entertained for the night until

“mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;”>Ms. Lauryn Hill

finally

takes the stage Sunday night. I must say, I’m pretty

excited.  I mean, what’s

the worst that could happen? We already know from the way the folks

moved the start time clock back two hours that she’s gonna be late.

Big deal! I say instead of being irate, take advantage of the fact

that you know what you’re dealing with and relish it. St. Louis is

one of the few cities she’s decided to bless the mic in. In

hindsight, I should have worked with the promoters to set up a

Spades/Domino tournament while we wait. Is the idea a bit soulful?

Yes. But anyone who’s counted books with a faithful partner in

crime to pass the time while on a stakeout to catch your boyfriend

sneaking out of another chick’s dorm on campus knows that it can be

extremely effective in making the hours breeze by – or at least

that’s what I’ve heard.

“font-family: Arial;” lang=”EN-US” xml:lang=”EN-US”>But back to the

show. This may sound crazy, but I’m expecting the best –regardless

of the outcome.  If it’s

all good I can say “remember back in 2011 when Ms. Lauryn Hill

ripped the Pageant.” Or, like the fortunate folks who are still

discussing that

“mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;”>Rachelle Farell

disaster

at the old Ambassador, I will be able to say, “That ain’t nothin’,

when I saw that Lauryn Hill…” (By the way, y’all, we had HUNDREDS

of folks signing up to win free tickets on stlamerican.com…..we

have other giveaways coming up, including for someone whose name

rhymes with Brian McKnight…..and another who goes by the name Ms.

Jackson).
