Well, I guess I’ll be spared my annual straight-up, slap in the face, kick in the butt, step on my stiletto diss during the Joe Torry Giving Back the Love Celebrity Weekend. Word on the street, alley and dirt road is that there won’t be any love given back or (forth) this year because they ain’t doing it. Yes – no love events this year. Of course the foundation hasn’t courteously alerted this media outlet of the cancellation, but the absence of bombardments of outrageous directives from the camp (and their team who later tears us a new one, bends us over and kicks us in it) backs up the word on the street. Sorry St. Louis. It was one of the most anticipated annual events in the Lou – no denying that. And it is a love lost. The foundation provided celebrity mentors, scholarships, free school supplies, free haircuts, and magnificent outings. So what in the karma happened? Well, since they didn’t phone the American, I’m not going to bother phoning the foundation. Besides, I predicted this last year. But let me first just say Joe Torry is a great guy. He wears one of the best personalities I’ve ever outfitted. He’s funny as President Bush in spelling bee, but I haven’t seen him in a lot of movies lately. And chit’ling circuit plays don’t count! Part of Joe’s problem may be that he dedicated so much of his time and energy to his foundation’s annual event. That’s the kind of guy he is. But if you aren’t hobnobbing with the rich and famous on movie sets, I think it’s hard to get them to scratch your back because they figure you can’t scratch theirs. You also have to have bank, but if you ain’t working, you’re not getting any bank, unless you rob one or sell your soul in some other capacity. Well, hopefully, Joe can now concentrate on his career and get more roles or even do his own thing, which he has talked about in the past. Of course I could be wrong and it could be something else. Hopefully, time or a call (not flowers please) will tell. We still have love for you Joe. We’re rooting for you. And we thank you for all you’ve done for St. Louis. I personally wish that I didn’t have to include the negative things here, but they (like the good times) happened, so it is what it is.
