So the big sexys were reppin’ at the kick-off for Thick Thursdays last week at Studio Hitz (that’s 8927 Riverview in Baden). There were eight contestants which is not bad for a first time out. It’s Memorial Day weekend now, and I am predicting that it will be 3 times that by the fourth of July. Maxine Elbert (the original Big Sexy) was fly as usual in this polka dot number. I had my little nephew draw a sketch of her ensemble – shoes and all- and was up in the Lane Bryant tryin’ to find a version of her entire swagger. But back to the competition. The highlight (and lowlight depending on who you talk to) was when one of the finalists got her private dancer skills on in public and stole the show. Her, um, “flexibility” had people comin’ up to me askin’ to make sure that I put it in the Partyline. She went down into a Chinese split that had everybody in the audience sayin’ “What the…aw hell naw, she got it.” I’ll tell you what, depending on whether or not she can tumble, if they ever start letting big sexys in the Olympics, Team USA will have another gymnastics gold medal if she heads to Beijing in 2008. She already has her floor exercise routine ready for the judges.
