There were a few events that not only captivated, but inspired me for one reason or another and I thought they deserved a space in my heart among the highlights for 2011: Black Girls Rock – A concert presented by some of the local vocal powerhouses in town to pay tribute to the woman power that is posted up right here in St. Louis was a sight to behold! To say that I was blown away by the big voices on the bill and the touching tributes to folks like Rochelle “Coco Soul” Walker would be an understatement.
