For those of you who didn’t attend – okay, I’ll be real enough to say most of you – New Edition put their whole foot into that show! The only thing bad about it was that video tribute moment that looked like it was filmed with my 2006 HTC Touch Pro 2. Dru Hill kicked things off with a bang. They were good, though the show seemed rushed and Sisqo was under the weather. And while Sisqo is usually the one holding the glow sticks, Nokio decided it was his turn – he even had his hair dyed glow stick green! Well actually it was a cross between glowstick green and police tape yellow, but you get my drift. He was doing the absolute most, including scooting off stage and returning to the show like he assumed nobody noticed. But he had everybody and their mama’s attention when he paid tribute to Prince with a snippet of “Darling Nikki.” Help. He slithered and gyrated like he freelances as an on-call exotic dancer. For me he was the highlight(er) of Dru Hill. New Edition was absolutely everything – and although I wish they had it in their budget for a Bobby Brown hologram – I can’t say I missed him one bit. New Edition performs with the same energy and precision as they did when they were half their age and Thursday night was no different. And who else almost fainted when Ronnie DeVoe unveiled those guns. I was like “when did LL join New Edition?” Ralph’s six pack was not to be slept on either. With the exception of a few weathered vocals, they were in top form from start to finish!
