After I left Dante’s, your girl kept partying like a rock star. I rolled through 1st Friday’s set at the new spot Sol Lounge on Lindell Blvd. in the Central West End. They made it do what it do as one might imagine. By the way, 1st Friday is at Lucky’s this go ‘round. After kicking it at the Sol Lounge, some friends and I strolled – Jehovah Witness style – down to Savor (also on Lindell) where GQS and MPAC hooked for a Turkey-Day Eve party. The stroll must have been a foreshadowing because it seemed like a touch of racism came knocking and the party came to a devilish end. We partied hard, but before closing time, the bar manager got into it with the party crew’s doorman and said the place was getting too crowded, which it couldn’t have been because he kept letting our white brothers and sisters through the door. But the party people were all partying together – well, I know the brown brothers were partying with some white sisters. I mean partying hard – if you know what I mean. And wouldn’t you know that before they could catch their breath, security was screaming, “It’s time to go.” And he said it as if he had already said 10 times. One guest said “OK, we heard you, but why are you yelling y’all got to go?” The bouncer replied angrily and smart-mouth, “I’m not from down South, I didn’t say ‘y’all.”’ Then out of nowhere, the bar manger comes from behind the bar and pushes the partygoer, saying you have to leave now. I later found out that the partygoers thought the bar manager was the owner or a bouncer, so he didn’t flat blast him, he chilled as one of his boys held everything down, telling him not to push him again. Yeah, thankfully it didn’t get ugly in there, and class prevailed over thuggism. Meanwhile, white guests where still sipping on drinks. Well, I guess they don’t want us in there, so let’s not go!
