Eric Rhone turned the big 40! Angela Rhone wanted to give her husband a party fit for a king, because 40 is a special age. The party was themed after The Godfather, Eric’s favorite movie. This was yet another Platinum Group joint. Denise Thimes provided fabulous music for the cocktail hour, and all of the who’s who entered the doorway of the Noon Day Club at the top of the Metropolitan Building in style. What a view. Child, errbody who is anybody was in the house. Cedric The Entertainer, Cory Spinks, Kevin Cunningham, Arnold Donald, Mr. & Mrs. John Jacob, Dr. & Mrs. Henry Givens Jr., Mr. & Mrs. James Buford, Attorney and Mrs. Larry Deskins, Martin Matthews, Jeffrey Rhone, Hilda Rhone, Kay Ross, Kelvin Bland, Freeman Bosley Jr., Patricia Washington, Mr. & Mrs. O’Lester Wise, Jean Wise, Christopher Wise, O’Lester Wise Jr., Portia Moore, Kenyetta Benton, Bill Beene, Stephanie Johnson, Mr. & Mrs. Rubin Charles, Monica Stewart, April Troupe, Monica Butler, Stevie Blast, Raynah Reynolds, Attorney Richard Banks, Barbara Washington, Kathy Conley Jones, Jeanne Roberts Sr., Jeanne Roberts, Jay Johnson, Michael Roberts Jr., Andre Holman, Sheila Reed, Marla Mckissic, Darion Phelps, Johnathan Bolden, Gina Cheetham, and many more.

When Angela and Eric entered the room, Denise Thimes announced their presence and the room stood still. Denise serenaded Eric with “Happy Birthday,” with the crowd joining in. As Eric took his throne on stage, the theme from The Godfather played in the background. He was presented with a large sapphire pinky ring, and those that took part in the roast kissed the ring before they let him have it. The roasters were friends and family, but the one that told it all, of course, was his main man Cedric. He had the crowd rolling. He joaned on Eric about all of aliases. I think he said he has nine.

When the roast ended, folks headed toward the gaming room where only the true players rolled. Brothers and sisters were playing craps, poker and blackjack for gifts donated from Anheuser-Busch and Visions Management Group. Model Brandi Austin was too cute serving up complimentary Cubana cigars. Brothers and, surprisingly, sisters were tokin’ stogies like this was Hollywood. Then they opened up the dance floor with DJ Elite, One Rough DJ fresh off of the European tour with Nelly. People packed the dance floor all night and they had the soul train line. Eric surprised us all with the centipede and the moon walk. Oh yeah, and Intellect rapped his own version of happy birthday to Eric. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ERIC!
