I had been looking forward to seeing my beloved Tank bless the mic all week and he did not disappoint for a second on Friday, for the Loft, MPAC and Radio One party….where he used his star-power to help grant Christmas wishes for children in need. A free toy meant free admission. It was a beautiful thing, I just expected more people to be in the building. Tank ripped it (and not just with his body type) while Johnny Gill and my girl Ira of Notifi Records sat and watched. Notifi artist Olli stepped to the stage for a hot impromptu duet as well. I was hoping Johnny would get in on the action, but I figured from his FBI informant inspired outfit (hat, glasses AND scarf) that the odds were against it. I was right.

But back to Tank. He is so handsome, talented AND nice that I’ve come to believe that the mediocre men of R&B have some kind of collaborative hate initiative to keep him from a world takeover. No dis, but it’s the only way to explain folks like Ne-Yo being more popular than he is in the industry.

If he wasn’t created in a lab – a la “Weird Science” – these other R&B cats need to step their game up.

I was so thrilled by him that I’m gonna do somethin’ I rarely pop off for non-locals – I suggest y’all buy his album when it hits the streets on December 14th.

I commend MPAC and Radio One for allowing the ladies’ lust to be used towards a worthy cause. What? It’s true…and it worked. 300 toys were collected and were distributed to Missouri Mentoring Partnership and Gateway 180 homeless shelter. Season of giving…indeed it was.
