My weekend started with a party with a purpose, The Teacher Ball. The purpose of the party was to raise money for middle school students to go on a rites of passage trip to Africa. I’m all for that. I rolled up in The Vault about 9 p.m. to a handsome crowd of teachers and their supporters. There was free food all night and I really like the drinks at The Vault. But when you roll up in joints that don’t usually have a black crowd, you have to ask how much the drinks are and get a receipt just in case you investigate and find that the price was different on another night. But it was all good. My drink was $8 as usual at the lower and upper lower level bar. Some of everybody and their mammas were in the house supporting, from Alderwoman April Ford Griffin to businessman and barber Ron Jackson to the Platinum Group’s Jacque and Leata Land.
