R. Kelly

According to TMZ.com, a lawyer for R. Kelly is demanding that the Lifetime Network pull the plug on the documentary series “Surviving R. Kelly” just ahead of its debut Thursday night.

“Kelly’s lawyer, Brian Nix, fired off a legal letter — obtained by TMZ — warning the network that its “Surviving R. Kelly” documentary is packed with lies,” the celebrity news and gossip site said. “Nix threatens to file a federal lawsuit Thursday — the same day Lifetime set to air the special — if the network doesn’t relent.”

The 6-part documentary includes people from Kelly’s inner circle coming forward with new allegations that Kelly has sexually, mentally and physically abused women.

Kelly denies all the accusations presented in the documentary and claims to have evidence against the network that prove they knew “some of the girls were lying, but that the budget was too high to turn back.”

The first episode of “Surviving R. Kelly” debuted on Lifetime Thursday. As of 9 a.m. Friday morning, no official statements regarding a federal lawsuit being filed by Kelly’s camp in response to the documentary have been made.
