R&B singer Johnny Kemp best known for his 1980’s hit “Just Got Paid” had passed away suddenly at the age of 55. News of his death was clouded by conflicting reports that Kemp had died as a result of an accidental fall while aboard the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage Cruise.
Reach Media, the company responsible for the Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage, has issued the following statement:
“We have received confirmation that Johnny Kemp has passed away. We do not have any other details. We can confirm he was not on the ship for the Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage Cruise.”
News of Kemp’ death was first reported by The Bahamas Weekly.
Details on the cause of death are yet to be confirmed.
A native of The Bahamas, Kemp is survived by his wife and two sons.
