Local rink raises more than $10K for earthquake victims
For 40 years, Skate King has been in the business of offering a good time and a positive outlet for the St. Louis community.
But last Tuesday (Feb. 16), they extended a much needed helping hand beyond the metro area towards the people of Haiti – who are still far from recovery after a 7.0 earthquake shook their nation to its core.
Mathew Foggy, president of Skate King, presented an $11,000 check to Arthur Hailand III, executive officer of development for the American Red Cross on behalf of the nearly 250 skaters who attended the event.
“We are grateful for the generosity shown by the skaters,” Foggy said.
Over the years Skate King has donated to several worthy causes, including Hurricane Katrina and the Coretta Scott King Foundation.
