Hip-hop star Snoop Dogg has changed his name to Snoop Lion and will begin focusing on reggae music instead of rap.
The long-time West Coast gangster rapper (real name Calvin Broadus Jr.) claims to have had a spiritual epiphany on a recent trip to Jamaica. The 40-year old artist also stated he has gotten tired of rap and is ready to embark on a more peaceful, positive journey with his music.
“I have always said I was Bob Marley reincarnated,” Lion said. “I feel I have always been a Rastafari. I just didn’t have my third eye open, but it’s wide open right now.”
Lion recently released his first reggae single, “La La La” on iTunes and Amazon. A full album, Reincarnated, and a documentary of the same name is expected Sept. 7.
