Pay attention to this story, people. Just Black, local rapper and hip-hop mogul, a man with a wife and four children, went way out west and bought himself a plot of land and watched his new house spring up. This past week, the woman – a white lady – who managed the office at the development came to Black’s house in tears. Seems a white man in the subdivision saw Black’s family about, and he burst in the office and demanded to know how many “n*gg*rs” had plots up in there. The lady burst out crying and ran to tell Bleezy.
Here’s the story, for me. The racist white man is a known quantity. We expect him to pop up just about anywhere. What I want to jam on is the white lady who hates his attitude just as much as you or me or Just Bleezy, and who scrapped the trust of the racist white man (who obviously expected another white person to share his views, or at least not be offended by them) in order to warn a black family.
There was a day, maybe not too long ago, when the white person sitting in that realtor’s office would have just shook her head, and said, “What can you do?” Or never would have sold Black the land to begin with. That lady in that office who dumped the white racist and confided in a black family is a sign of hope around here.
