On the heels of his four Grammy Award nominations, St. Louis’ own super producer and artist Metro Boomin has received four nods for the 2025 BET Awards.
He is up for “Album Of The Year” for his “We Don’t Trust You” project with rapper Future. The pair are also up for a “Best Group” award as well as “Best Collaboration” in addition to a “Video Of The Year” award for “Type [Expletive] – a nomination they share with Travis Scott and Playboi Carti.
Nominations were announced on Monday (May 12) for the 25th anniversary milestone of an event that has become a staple within Black culture. Kendrick Lamar has the most nominations of any artists for the 2025 BET Awards. Metro and Future deserve a nod of distinction for igniting Lamar’s career-defining beef with fellow rap star Drake by way of Lamar’s featured verse on “Like That.”
Drake is among the artists tied in second place for most nominations – six. The others are Doechii, Future, and GloRilla.
The ceremony will air live from the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 7 p.m. CST. Comedian and actor Kevin Hart is set to host the milestone event that will also include a tribute to the staple BET show “106th & Park.”
Related programming for The BET Experience 2025 will take place June 5 – June 8. Events include a reggae night with Buju Banton at the Hollywood Palladium and the Roots Picnic Experience at the Hollywood Bowl. An R&B-focused night at YouTube Theater will showcase classic acts like Jagged Edge and Donell Jones.
