After a strong opening and impressive run at two local theatres, St. Louis film Streetballers will make its west coast debut at the legendary Mann’s Chinese Theatre next month (Sept. 25) in Los Angeles.
According to the film’s producer Patrick Rooney, the support that Streetballers received in its home city of St. Louis was a major factor factor in the film’s release in the entertainment capital of the world.
“We are very excited!” Rooney said. “The innovative self-distributing strategies we’ve developed has taken Streetballers from the Gateway City to the City of Angels.”
The groundbreaking local film will screen at the theater chain that premiered The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Star Wars.
“We developed the strategies, but we didn’t fill the theaters, St. Louis did. None of this would have been possible without all of the support of our hometown, St. Louis – the city that provided the locations, the story, the crew, and the actors for Streetballers.”
Streetballers is currently playing at the Tivoli (6350 Delmar) and Ronnie’s 20 (5320 S. Lindbergh). For more information on the film, visit www.streetballersthemovie.com.
