Terrence Howard, who portrayed a Memphis pimp who wants to make good in “Hustle & Flow,” has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actor category of the Academy Awards.
The surprise hit “Crash” was nominated for Best Picture, along with the gay cowboy tale “Brokeback Mountain,” the Edward R. Murrow tale “Good Night, and Good Luck,” the murder thriller “The Constant Gardener,” the oil-industry saga “Syriana,” the assassination story “Munich” and the costume pageants “Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Pride & Prejudice.”
“Crash” won the Best Picture category in the Screen Actors Guild awards last week.
ABC will broadcast the Oscars live March 5 from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre, with Jon Stewart as host.
