TV One’s newest sitcom “The Rickey Smiley Show” will make its small screen debut tonight (Tues., Sept. 18).
Loosely based on the life of longtime comedian and nationally syndicated radio personality, Smiley stars as a popular comedian and radio personality based in Atlanta, who is a single father trying to balance his family life, having a life, and a career in the spotlight.
“The Rickey Smiley Show” also stars veteran comic J. Anthony Brown, R&B singer/actor Ray J and actress and singer Demetria McKinney (“Tyler Perry’s House of Payne”).
The series also features several celebrity guest stars and appearances from many of Smiley’s original characters he has made famous over the years, including Mrs. Bernice Jenkins, Lil’ Daryl, Minister Joe Willie and Beauford.
The new series is from executive producer Roger Bobb – the producer behind hit series “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns.”
The former Executive Vice President of Tyler Perry Studios also produced eleven of Tyler Perry’s box office hits, including Why Did I Get Married?, Meet the Browns, and Madea’s Family Reunion.
“The Rickey Smiley Show” premieres tonight at 8 p.m. CST on TV One. Check local listings for details.
