Just hours after they reported that Michael Jackson suffered cardiac arrest, TMZ.com is now saying that pop star Michael Jackson has died. He was said to be taken by ambulance to a Los Angeles-area hospital this afternoon to be treated for cardiac arrest.
Sources reportedly told the celebrity gossip website that a 9-1-1 call was received from Jackson’s Holby Hills, California home this afternoon (Thurs., Jun. 25) Thursday afternoon.
The Associated Press later confirmed TMZ.com’s initial news. They reported that fire department official Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times that the singer was rushed to the hospital and that Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m.
The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the newspaper. The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jackson’s rented home, was roped off Thursday with police tape.
A person with knowledge of the situation also told the Associated Press that Michael Jackson has died in Los Angeles. The person, who was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity, says the King of Pop died at age 50 in a Los Angeles hospital.
