Questions are swirling in the black community as to why Majic 104.9 would put on an event the main day of the Missouri Black Expo, and just a few blocks away, last weekend? Majic had their quasi-black family reunion event (which was free) on the same day visitors had to “pay” $8 to get in the Missouri Black Expo. Some say it’s because of a beefy relationship between MBE and Majic. Now, if Majic manipulated such a revered and sacred tradition – as the black family reunion – just to spite the Black Expo that’s as low as you can go. But if they didn’t, it’s a genuinely great idea that should have been scheduled on a date that doesn’t conflict with an established black event like the Missouri Black Expo. Only time will tell if the event hurt this year’s attendance at the MBE.
