Wiz Khalifa, 22, an underground rapper from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will perform at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 11 at the Old Rock House, 1200 So. 7th St. in Soulard, with artists Ugod (member of the rap group Wutang) and Jasmine Solano.

Wiz Khalifa has been on the scene since 2005 with his first mixtape, Prince of the City: Welcome to Pistolvania, which got a lot of buzz. Several mixtapes later, he has another album, untitled at this time, coming out later this year.

Still, not fast enough.

“I feel like it’s taking to long,” Wiz Khalifa told The American.

“The whole grind has paid off. It’s a good look and let’s me know that if I keep grinding and working, it’s going to continue to pay off.”

Wiz Khalifa has been to St. Louis before but didn’t get to enjoy the area like he should have. Due to problems with promoters and misunderstandings, he said, his concert was shut down by the police before he could even perform.

“We had to run from the cops, it was crazy,” Wiz Khalifa said. “I didn’t get to fully experience St. Louis.”

Wiz Khalifa is touring throughout the U.S. before he releases his new mixtape, Kush and Orange Juice, later on this month. Another mixtape this summer will be released, followed by his album.

Plus, features along the way.

“I’ve been meeting a lot people, so ain’t no telling whose video I’m gone pop in,” Wiz Khalifa said. “I just be everywhere. Just look out for me, I’ll be around.”

The name of the current tour is “Deal or No Deal” – the name of his second album that was released last year.

Coming to St. Louis is important to Wiz Khalifa. He wants to reach the fans that have been following him and gain some new ones.

“It’s poppin out there,” Wiz Khalifa said of St. Louis.

“I try to reach my fan base everywhere, and even if I don’t have a lot of fans out there, me coming there is going to make new fans. I could always use that.”

Wiz Khalifa wants to see everyone come through for his show at the Old Rock House.

“I see a mixture of age ranges,” Wiz Khalifa said. Everybody open and having fun not taking themselves to serious.”
