Jamyla Bolden became the latest tragic casualty of senseless gun violence Tuesday night when a stray bullet entered her home and fatally wounded the nine-year-old as she completed her homework.
The gunfire, from an unknown source near the 9200 block of Ellison in Ferguson, also struck her mother – who was hit in the leg.
Jamyla was just beginning her fourth-grade year at Koch Elementary in the Riverview Gardens School District.
Ferguson Police say that they have begun an investigation on the shooting and will tirelessly work to find the party or parties responsible for the tragic shooting.
