Writer, filmmaker and activist dream hampton took to twitter to disclose that Jay Z and Beyoncé donated sizable sums to Ferguson and Baltimore protest movements.
Complex Magazine broke the news about a series of tweets, that have since been deleted, where hampton – who worked with Jay Z on his best-selling book, “Decoded,” – said that he aided the protest movements against police-brutality on more than one occasion.
“I’m going to tweet this and I don’t care if Jay gets mad,” hampton said. “When we needed money for bail for Baltimore protesters, I asked hit Jay up, as I had for Ferguson, wired tens of thousands in mins.
“When BLM needed infrastructure money for the many chapters that were growing like beautiful dandelions, Carters wrote a huge check.”
Soon after tweeting on Sunday, she sent another indicating that she had been told to “shut the [expletive] up & head to brunch.”
“Gonna erase my error ridden rant. Hope you got your little screenshot,” she added.
It wasn’t clear who asked her to stop tweeting or why, but hampton later returned to Twitter to confirm her statements.
“It’s true they gave, which is why I tweeted it,” she said.
