'Empire'

St. Louis was scratched from the multi-city EMPIRE Bus Tour singing competition because of the resurgence of unrest in Ferguson.

The contest – which was scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11 and Wednesday Aug. 12 – would’ve given St. Louis singing talent an opportunity to enter for a chance to win an appearance on the Fox Network’s hit show.

The bus was scheduled to park at Ballpark Village for two days and give local talent a chance to win a walk on cameo at some point during the show’s second season by recording an a capella version of their favorite song from the debut season’s soundtrack.

A release announcing the cancellation of the St. Louis stop of the tour came on the heels of St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger’s state of Emergency declaration yesterday afternoon and as protests continued in Ferguson last night.
