Over 1,000 people – from Oakland to New York – are expected to attend the Movement for Black Lives National Convening in Cleveland from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26.

Organizers are describing it as a “weekend of healing, creation, music, skill building and fellowship.”

“During the past year, black people from across the country have led a wave of resistance that has spread around the world,” according to a statement on the event website http://movementforblacklives.org

“A new chapter is being written in our long journey towards liberation. Now, after months of intense action, our people need space to create a collective mission that matches the intensity, scale, urgency, and promise of the moment.”

The weekend will host a variety of workshops, including sessions on Cleveland’s history, movement building, political education and healing arts.

The events will be held at the Cleveland State University, 2121 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115. A full map of the campus can be found here:
