Last week Governor Jay Nixon was joined by First Lady Georganne Nixon to discuss the Department of Agriculture’s 10,000 Gardens Challenge at Bowood Farms in St. Louis. This week Nixon announced his appointments to the commissions that will consider the legislative redistricting of Missouri in light of the 2010 Census; of the 28 appointees, only two are African-American. -

Cameron Dozier and Jaylen Taylor from Hazelwood Central High School’s Robohawks team are greeted by Walter Deitzler of University City High School’s Robo-Lions after winning the final round of competition last weekend at the St. Louis Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at the Chaifetz Arena. Their teams formed an alliance with Camdenton High School 4-H’s LASER team that will compete in the championships in St. Louis next month. -

Eric Henderson, Muhidin Abdimalik, Jerrica Williams and Derrick Adams formed the Metal Storm team form the St. Louis Science Center’s Youth Exploring Science (YES) Program and University of Missouri Extension that competed last weekend in the St. Louis Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at the Chaifetz Arena. The Metal Storm team formed an alliance that included the Gateway Institute of Technology and St. Louis Public Schools (Perpetual Chaos), Wentzville Holt and Timberland High Schools (Ratchet Rockers). They finished in second place. -
