Position description: The Department of Finance in the College of
Business at the University of Missouri-Columbia seeks a director for its
new Jeffrey E. Smith Institute of Real Estate. Responsibilities of the director
include cultivating relationships with the real estate industry, organizing
an annual real estate conference for the professional real estate community,
teaching real estate and perhaps some finance courses at the undergraduate
and possibly the MBA level, and coordinating summer internships with
commercial real estate firms for students. The position is a continuing
appointment on a 12-month basis subject to annual renewal and status as a
non-tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Finance.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in finance, real estate, or a related field is
required; a PhD degree in one of the same areas is preferred. Relevant
experience in real estate demonstrated by previous real estate teaching,
course work in the real estate area, or significant professional experience in
commercial real estate is also required. Candidates must have a strong
commitment to both teaching and developing relationships with the commercial
real estate industry.
