Columnist Cassandra Walker
Those faithful readers of “Sharing with Cassandra” should remember the column about a month ago that told of a friend who had a brain surgery.
I wrote about how Brenda Winslow had passed out at work and was taken to the hospital where they performed emergency surgery.
I asked you readers to pray for her and her family.
I have the best readers in the world, because after that column ran I had several of you call or email me asking how she was doing.
As I sit and write this column, Brenda’s family has laid her to rest. She passed away and went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2007.
Brenda was like a lot of you readers, a native St.Louisain. She attended Soldan High School and recently celebrated her 25th high school reunion.
Just like a lot of my homegrown readers, she went to college nearby, attending Northeast Missouri State University, and used her talents locally for Pattonville School district.
Like many of you readers, she had a family. Her husband and three children meant the world to her.
I bet some of you can see yourself in her, as a leader in her community and very active in her church.
Those readers who are into fitness could relate to Brenda, as she was an avid runner and walker.
Then there are those faithful readers who will relate to the loved ones Brenda left behind. The pain they feel in her loss but the wonderful memories they will have to cherish.
Thank you readers for being so concerned about Brenda and her family. You reached out, you cared and that is why I love writing this column.
Brenda will be missed in many ways. Readers as you go through your day to day and you see a runner, leader, wife, mother or woman with a beautiful smile, you will be able to see what Brenda we all saw in Brenda.
Thanks for sharing.
