This is for everyone who is astonished, ashamed, or angry about President Obama’s support of same sex marriage.
God loves all people despite our wrongdoings and choices. That is why we should be grateful for His grace and mercy.
How can we, as Christians, deny anyone or judge them? Isn’t that wrong?
How can we vote for a person who is pro-choice to later remove our support because he supports gay marriage? Doesn’t that make you a hypocrite?
Why is it okay to allow same sex couples to adopt and raise children without being legally married when, not so long ago, a single man or woman couldn’t adopt and it was frowned upon for a woman to have a child out of wedlock? This is okay; but marriage isn’t?
Do you want people telling you who to love or how to live? If your answer is no, which I’m sure it is, how can you tell others who to love and marry because you don’t agree? Same sex marriage isn’t pushing their views and lifestyle on to you; your denying them the right to marriage is pushing your views and lifestyle on them.
As a Christian, your duty is to witness and share with others the message of God, the life, death and resurrection of Christ, and what He’s done for you. The bible tells us that after you’ve done that and it isn’t received, you are to dust off your sandals and move on. It doesn’t say to treat them with disdain or judge them. That is reserved for Christ upon meeting them.
How would you feel if you were in a committed monogamous relationship with someone for a long time and he/she was to fall deathly ill? That would be stressful. You now have to make a decision about his/her care. Their estranged family, who hasn’t spoken to him/her for years, come around and deny you the right to see, hug and love him/her. They take your home when your partner dies, leaving you homeless and without anything that the two of you built together.
Imagine showing up to see him/her to discover that the estranged family pulled the plug without giving you the opportunity to say good-bye. As a matter of fact, when you get there, the body has already been moved. Funeral arrangements are made and you have no say’ or even worse, you aren’t aware of the arrangements.
This scenario is why they are fighting for the right to marry. These loving individuals want the same basic rights a heterosexual couple has whether they are married or not.
