Last November I told you how son number four received his driver’s license.

Well, up until about three weeks ago he had been driving my husband’s car. Now we have purchased him his own car.

It is quite strange how the son we had when he rode in our car has disappeared. In his place is the son who has his own car.

Let me explain,

Then: In our cars he would walk through the mud and up a dirty hill and climb on in the back seat.

Now: He makes his brothers take off their shoes and put them in plastic bags if they want to ride in his car.

Then: He would jump into my car after basketball practice with sweat running down his back to his feet, leaving a wet spot all over my seat.

Now: He makes his brothers and tried to make me take an extra shower before they can ride with him to the store up the street.

Then: He would eat, pizza, chips, hamburgers and down three Gatorades before we made it home from a game.

Now: In his car he will not allow even a raisin to be eaten. He tells his brothers absolutely no food – nothing that has crumbs or the ability to make a crumb can enter through my doors.

Then: He would drive my car through puddles of water, down dusty roads or smack dab through a muddy road.

Now: He will give you whip lash trying to avoid a water hole the size of an orange. He spends countless hours polishing his wheels and prays that we do not have rain for the next four years.

Then: He never cared about gas prices or oil changes.

Now: He brings me an application to fill out asking me to please with sugar on top get him a gas card. To which he adds, I will make sure to pay you back every penny.

It is amazing how things change now that he has his own car and how much he protects it and cares for it. He seems to finally understand why his father and I have rules.

Now if only he can learn to stop bouncing his basketball off my walls.

Thanks for sharing.
