Beaumont High School’s 10th annual Wall of Fame ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 8 at Beaumont High School, 3836 Natural Bridge Ave.
The Wall of Fame honors are presented annually to alumni and community leaders for their achievements and service to the community.
This year’s honorees are Rochelle Simmons Clark, executive director for Student Support Services for SLPS; Patricia Banks-Slaughter, educator at Beaumont High School; and Alderman Freeman Bosley Sr.
“The Walk of Fame inductees represent the highest honor presented to alumni or community leaders who have achieved notable distinction in their careers,” Beaumont Principal Travis L. Brown Sr. said.
Each recipient will be honored with a certificate, a plaque and a picture on Beaumont’s Wall of Fame, which is located on the school’s second floor.
Past recipients of the Wall of Fame include state Senator John Bass, Blanche Touhill, Don Johnson, Grace Morgan and Tom Stanton.

$10K grant for AIDS housing
Doorways has received a $10,000 grant from the Daughters of Charity Foundation, which will be used to expand the supportive services offered to parents in its Family Residential Complex.
This grant will be used to deliver services to over 30 families a year who, in addition to living with HIV/AIDS, are also struggling to overcome poverty, lack of employment, and/or lack of education.
Doorways is the only organization in the region with the sole mission of providing housing and related services to individuals who are affected by HIV/AIDS, and was one of the first AIDS housing providers in the nation to develop specialized services for families with children who are affected by the disease.
This year will mark the 20th year of Doorways’ service to the community. The organization has assisted almost 6,000 households since its founding in 1988. Each year, 38 percent of those served are female heads of household, and 500 children annually benefit from the housing and services delivered.
