Nia Yvette Hughes married Dejoise Jabbar Gillispie Saturday, May 16 at First Baptist Church of Maplewood. Nia’s matron of honor was Kelley Brooks, and Dejoise’s best man was Arbon Hairston III. The groom entered the church to the tune of “Unforgettable” and the “here comes the bride” tune was “You Are So Beautiful.”
High school sweethearts
Serena and Deyon Smith have been together for 10 years. They were high school sweethearts and now the love of each other’s life. The longtime lovers are expecting a love child in December and were recently engage to be married.

Angel Michelle Anderson, a graduate of 1994 graduate of McCluer High School, recently earned a master’s of fine art in writing from Lindenwood University. She received her bachelor’s of arts degree in English from UMSL. Angel recently started her communications company, AMA Publishing and Productions, LLC where she will self-publish her first book (of poetry).
A shining star
Aunya L. McElroy, daughter of St. Louis American senior account executive Barb Sills-McElroy, recently grated from McCluer North High (home of the Stars). She’s planning to attend Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville (SIU-E) where she will study pre-pharmacy.
