The Black Caucus of the American Library Association, Inc. will hold its 9th National Conference of African American Librarians for the first time in St. Louis. The conference dates are Tuesday, Aug. 4-8, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch Hotel. The theme for the conference is “Meet at the Gateway: Reimagining Communities, Technologies and Libraries.”

Tukufu Zuberi will be the keynote speaker. He is a professor of race relations and sociology and the director of the Center for Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, as well as host of the PBS series “History Detectives.”

Other speakers include Troy D. Johnson, president, founder and webmaster of AALBC.com; Robbie Montgomery, owner of Sweetie Pie’s restaurants; Max Brooks, graphic novelist and author of “World War Z”; and Joel Christian Gill, chairman/CEO of StrangeFruit Comics.
