U.S. Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay recently joined St. Louis Postmaster Nancy Frywear and other officials to dedicate the Coach Jodie Bailey Post Office in Jennings. The late Coach Bailey inspired generations of student athletes as he compiled an astounding 828 basketball wins as the head coach at Vashon High School, Northwest High School and O’Fallon Tech. Clay, who authored the legislation to name the Jennings Post Office in Coach Bailey’s honor, remembered his mentor not just for his athletic greatness, but for his ability to transform the lives of young people. Clay said, “While we are pleased to honor Coach Jodie Bailey with the dedication of this post office, his legacy is not in this building. It is in the lives that he touched, and in the young people that he lifted up. His memory will live on forever in this community that he loved so much, and served so well.”
