The Florissant Valley Branch of the St. Louis County Library recently unveiled a new teen center. The Florissant Valley “Teen Alley” was made possible by funding from the St. Louis County Library Foundation. The Foundation’s Starcatcher’s gala, held in September 2010, raised over $60,000 for the center.

The new teen center is one of five that the Library Foundation will fund in 2010-2011. In addition to Florissant Valley, teen centers are planned at the following branches: Bridgeton Trails, Grand Glaize, Samuel C. Sachs and Oak Bend.

The Library currently has teen centers at five branches. Teen centers are areas set apart within a library branch designed to help teens feel comfortable and welcomed. The areas feature unique furniture, bright paint, video games, computers, books, magazines, and DVDs and CDs popular among teens.
