The Professional Organization of Women (P.O.W) will host a scholarship breakfast to support non-traditional, female students 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 19 at the Renaissance St. Louis Grand Hotel, in honor of Frankie Muse Freeman.
“Non-traditional students make up 38 percent of those enrolled in higher education,” said Christina Furr of P.O.W.
“Often these students have not taken a traditional path to higher education, because of personal challenges or economic conditions, and end up pursing their dream of attending college at a much later stage in life.”
Thanks to support from World Wide Technology, P.O.W. will award four non-traditional female undergraduate students with a $5,000 scholarship and laptop.
Jasmine Huda of KMOV will serve as the Mistress of Ceremony and DJ Twinny Twin will provide the morning entertainment.
Tickets are $45 and benefit the P.O.W. scholarship fund. For more information or to purchase tickets please visit the P.O.W. store at www.powincstl.org or email us at empower@powinc.org.
