On November 1, Annie Malone Children & Family Service Center announced their annual “Power of 57 Cents” campaign, designed to be within reach for anyone to become involved with the center. The challenge goal is set at $225,000 to be completed by December 31.
In August, an anonymous donor gave a gift of $75,000 to be used as a Challenge Grant. The challenge grant will help with programs including child maltreatment intervention and crisis services, transitional living, therapeutic school, and parent education offered at Annie Malone.
The Power of 57 Cents campaign began as a plea to encourage donors to contribute 57 cents each day for 365 days. While responses have grown to the annual request equaling $208, the 30 Day Challenge, requiring a personal commitment of just $17.10 and the recruitment of two friends to do the same, has appealed to a greater segment of the community.
In 2009, the center raised just over $265,000 with loyal contributors such as Emerson Electric, local media outlets spreading the word, individuals, churches and corporations making donations from most every neighborhood and business sector from the community.
Individuals and businesses interested in making donations towards the Power of 57 Cents campaign should be made payable and mailed to: Annie Malone Children and Family Service Center, 2612 Annie Malone Drive, St. Louis, MO 63113. Identify the “Power of 57 Cents campaign” in the memo section of all checks or contribute online through www.NetworkforGood.org.
