and Mini-Grants Program
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Sen. Timothy Green, D-Spanish Lake, encourages minority managed organizations and small arts groups located in North County to apply for funding from the Missouri Arts Council (MAC) during the 2007 year. The Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, will provide approximately $2.4 million next year through 248 grants in 59 communities that encourage and stimulate the growth, development and appreciation of the arts in Missouri.
“The Missouri Arts Council — as public leader, partner and catalyst — is dedicated to broadening the appreciation and availability of the arts in the State and fostering the diversity, vitality and excellence of Missouri’s communities, economy and cultural heritage,” said Sen. Green.
Minority Arts Program (MAP) provides project support for arts projects created by or targeted to people of diverse cultures. MAP gives funding priority to minority-managed organizations with minority-developed arts focused projects. For the purposes of this MAC grant program minorities are identified as people of color.
Mini Grants provides project support for small arts groups and rural-based organizations. The maximum mini grant awarded is $1,000.
Minority-managed organizations and small arts groups located in North County can find additional information, including FY 2007 Guidelines, on-line at: www.missouriartscouncil.org/html/funding.shtml
Supported in part by MAC funding organizations such as Show-Me Sound, www.showmesound.org have been making a difference by serving St. Louis youth since 1993. The Missouri Arts Council is the second oldest legislatively funded arts agency in the United States. Over the years, MAC has provided vital support and leadership to bring the arts to all the people of the state. MAC provides funding to make possible quality arts programming to both large and small communities.
“I encourage minority and small arts groups located in North County to apply for funding from the Missouri Arts Council which will fund arts projects that will benefit all of North County St. Louis,” said Sen. Green.
