St. Louis will “Go for 66 in ‘06.”
On Wednesday the United Way of Greater St. Louis announced its 2006 campaign goal of $66 million to support 200 health and human service organizations in the bi-state region.
The fund-raising campaign officially starts on September 6 and concludes at the end of October.
“You or someone you know has probably been helped by a United Way-supported agency in the area,” said Steve Maritz, United Way 2006 campaign chair and CEO of Maritz, Inc.
“One million people in our community of three million are helped each year by agencies that receive funding from United Way.”
Last year, more than 214,000 donors and 2,500 businesses donated to United Way.
Gary Dollar, president and CEO of United Way of Greater St. Louis, thanked Maritz; United Way Board Chair David Steward, founder and chairman of World Wide Technology; and the board for setting the goal.
Larry E. Thomas, partner, Edward Jones, will chair the 2006 Charmaine Chapman Society campaign. Charmaine Chapman Society members pledge an annual gift of $1,000 or more to the United Way. In 2005, more than 600 members raised nearly $1.4 million.
