Zeta Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (1922-2010) hosted its 88th Founders’ Celebration Luncheon “On Fire to Serve: Passing the Torch” on Saturday, November 13 at Holiday Inn-Airport.

From seven young educators, Sigma Gamma Rho has become an international service organization comprised of women from every profession. Sigma Gamma Rho offers its members opportunities to develop their unique talents through leadership training and involvement in sorority activities. Sorority activities provide an atmosphere where friendships and professional contacts are developed which often lead to bonds that lasts a lifetime.

Zeta Sigma is the largest and oldest graduate chapter of the sorority in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Chartered June 5, 1932, Zeta Sigma has a long and rich history at all levels of the sorority, having produced several Grand Basilei, Regional syntakti, and numerous soros of distinction.

The chapter’s first Basileus, Soror Dr. Pearl Schwartz White is the author of the sorority’s first documented history, “Behind these Doors A Legacy: The Hisotry of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.”

Zeta Sigma aponsors six undergraduate chapters on campuses in St. Louis, Jefferson City, Columbia, Kirskville, and Cape Girardeau, Missouri, as well as a Philo Club (friends) and Rhoer Club (high school interest group). Educational programs, scholarships, and charitable contributions to benefit young women are sponsored through the chapter’s Aurora Foundation.
