The Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated completed its second year of locally sponsoring the sorority’s national Young Authors Program Contest. Six students were honored as the top winners of the writing contest. The winners were Ronnae Collins, Bryan Hill Elementary School, and Frederick Peebles, Bel-Ridge Elementary School, first place; Tyshe Jackson and Ollie Kyles, both of Bryan Hill Elementary School, second place; and Rodney Humphries, Farragut Elementary School, and Candance Willis, Bryan Hill Elementary School, third place. Top prizes included $200 Savings Bonds. Rose Coleman and Angela R. Jones are co-chairs of the Young Authors Committee. Andriette Fields is the president of Gamma Omega Chapter.
