The Black World History Museum will host its second annual Griot’s Gala and Tribunal Honors at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 10 at the Millennium Hotel, 200 S. 4th Street.
The event will feature a delicious dinner prepared by Executive Chef Matthew Birkenmeier, stilt walking by the Nan Foule Mask Society, African dance and drumming by the Harambee Youth Group, first-person interpretations by Fannie Belle Lebby and Gregory Carr, and African-American classical compositions by members of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
Honorees include Phillip Brown, “Mama” Lisa Gage, Frankie M. Freeman Esq., Gladys Coggswell, Jamie Graham, Robert J. Ray, Etta Daniels, Julius K. Hunter, Eugene B. Redmond, Melvina Conley, Ald. Terry Kennedy and Jamala Rogers.
Tickets are $55 per person or $500 for a table of 10. St. Louis American publisher Donald M. Suggs and Tony Thompson, president & CEO of Kwame Building Group, are co-chairs.
