On Sunday, February 27, Child Day Care Association (CDCA) will honor five Early Childhood Success Advocates at its second annual fundraiser to benefit the Pathways to Success-Kathryn Nelson Scholarship program.
The event will take place at Christ Church Cathedral, 1210 Locust Street in downtown St. Louis, beginning at 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The Pathways to Success-Kathryn Nelson Scholarship Program is a scholarship fund that provides financial assistance to early care and education teachers who wish to further their professional development through the completion of college level courses. Scholarship awards are made to applicants who are working in a child care center or who operate child care homes serving children ages birth to five years.
Since 1999, CDCA has awarded over 300 scholarships, with approximately 50 percent of these awards being made to early childhood professionals who live or work in communities that are economically and socially distressed.
CDCA was established by the United Way of Greater St. Louis in 1969. It serves approximately 7,300 families and 3,000 child care programs each year with a staff of 57 and a network of out-state program monitors on a budget of $2.3 million.
Tax deductible donations will be accepted in advance and at the fundraiser. Please visit HYPERLINK http://www.childcarestl.org www.childcarestl.org to make your donation online or call 531-1412, ext. 63, for more information.
