The Joe Torry “Giving Back the Love” Foundation, in conjunction with St. Louis City Parks and Recreation, Pepsi and Clear Channel Radio, is proud to present the “Family Day in the Park,” Sunday, June 26 from noon to 6 p.m. in Kauffman and Poelker Parks (located at Tucker and Market Streets across from City Hall) in Downtown.

Some of St. Louis’ hottest R&B, rap and gospel artists and various dance groups will be featured at this year’s festivities. This free, public event will include face painting, complimentary refreshments and chances to win prizes.

The foundation’s mission is to provide assistance for the educational, emotional, cultural and social needs of underprivileged children and families in the region. As a non-profit organization, it has donated all of its net proceeds to individual families and institutions.

“Family Day in the Park” is the kick-off event for the Eighth Annual Joe Torry Celebrity Basketball Challenge Weekend scheduled for July 16 and July 17 at the Mark Twain Building on UMSL’s campus.

Tickets to the Celebrity Basketball Challenge, which includes the “Metro Youth All-Star Game,” are $10, $20, and $30 and available at MetroTix locations or by calling (314) 534-1111 or (314) 389-3133.
